Headlight Mounting Panel Information

Behind the front bumper, hidden inside of the front end of the vehicle, a structural component of the vehicle frame exists to provide support for the headlight assemblies. The headlight mounting panel is a bare-bones plate of steel that can either be a single, wide piece that connects both headlights or be mounted as two separate units.

This mounting panel provides a support frame for the headlights and in some cases allows the headlights to be more precisely aimed so that both lights have the same elevation or declination and fall on the road at the same place. The panel itself can also provide structural support for the front bumper, depending on the make and model of the vehicle in question.

These mounting panels are rarely seen by most people, but they need to be maintained and treated with care, as the headlights, which are critical safety features, rely on this mounting support. At times you have to buy a new panel for road safety or utilitarian needs, and sometimes it's just something to enjoy; regardless, get the highest level of reliability you're able to manage. When you got your car or truck, you made an investment that might be in your life for a long time, so support that investment by purchasing the most reliable auto parts. If there are any concerns about our parts, our customer support team members can be reached during business hours - with our standard top-notch customer service!

Headlight Mounting Panel

If you’ve been in a front end collision, you know that a crash like this can get your vehicle out of whack. Suddenly your headlights aren’t in alignment and your car’s grill has an odd tilt--this is because of damage to your headlight mounting panel, or header panel. Although you rarely think of this part, it is the unsung hero of your car or truck’s front end, holding the necessary components together securely. When your headlight mounting panel is damaged, replacing it quickly is an essential step to getting back out on the road.

At PartsGeek.com we have a wide selection of header panels to fit your vehicle. With our 30-day return policy you can shop with confidence, knowing that you will end up with the exact part you need to get driving again safely.

What Is a Headlight Mounting Panel?

Often overlooked, but integral to your vehicle’s performance is the headlight mounting panel. This plastic, fiberglass or sheet metal part holds your car or truck’s headlights and grill in place. If your header panel is damaged in a front end crash, it is important to have it replaced in a timely manner, as skimping on this could allow more damage to be done to your headlights, or if the grill falls out of place, that could cause you engine problems down the line.

How Much Is a New Headlight Mounting Panel?

Although prices depend upon several factors, including the year, make and model of your car or truck, many of our header panels at PartsGeek.com are available in the $25 to $50 range. With a large selection of products to fit a vast array of vehicles, we should have the parts to suit your needs at a great price.

How Difficult Is Installing a New Header Panel?

Although time consuming, replacing your vehicle’s headlight mounting panel is only a moderately complicated task. First you’ll need to remove you car or truck’s grill, and to unscrew this, you’ll need to open the hood and find where it is attached. After this has been unscrewed and removed, you’ll need to unclip any headlamp covers and unscrew the headlight assembly. Next you will unplug the headlights from their electrical system. Then locate the bolts holding your current header panel in place and remove them with a socket wrench. Once you have taken off your old headlight mounting panel, get a friend to help you line up the new panel and hold it in place so it can be bolted on in the same manner as the original. Then you’ll reattach the headlights and grill, make sure everything is secure and in working order, and you’ll be ready to ride again.
