Replacement Clutch Disc Information
Choose from top brands including: Sachs, Exedy, Genuine and LUK.
No matter what kind of car, truck, or van you drive, it is absolutely critical that your transmission is in good working order. From the flywheel to the clutch lining and from the pressure plate to the thrust bearing, the inner workings of a clutch are absolutely critical to the health of your vehicle. One key part of the clutch is the clutch disc, which is at the center of the entire clutch mechanism. Over time, this component can become worn, contributing to a decline in function. If you want a healthy clutch in your car, then, it is important to make sure that all components are solid and in good repair. A clutch relies on components that are precisely machined to work well with each other. This is what allows the vehicle to function smoothly. As parts wear down, then, the entire clutch mechanism will begin to suffer, and you’ll experience declining performance. To get the most out of your clutch, remember that PartsGeek.com offers great selection, great service, and great prices – everything you need to keep your car in top condition.

The vehicle's Exedy Clutch Disc is important because it transfers the energy from the flywheel turning with the engine to the pressure plate on the transmission, providing power to move the car.

Your car's LUK Clutch Disc is an important part because it transfers power from the flywheel on the engine to the pressure plate on the transmission, providing the energy to move the vehicle.

Your vehicle's Sachs Clutch Disc is a crucial component because it transfers the movement from the flywheel mounted to the engine to the pressure plate on the transmission, providing the energy to move the vehicle.

clutch disc
Linking the engine to the moving parts that make your car get up and go, your clutch is one of most important mechanical pieces on board. Unfortunately, this workhorse of a device also takes quite a beating over time, even under normal use. As clutch discs get worn down from constant friction, they can become unreliable and eventually completely unusable.
On PartsGeek.com, you'll find thousands of clutch discs and clutch kits to keep your car running as smoothly as possible, at prices that are industry competitive. You'll find equipment from top brands like Sachs, ACT, Auto 7 and Centerforce, as well as plenty of OEM options for a guaranteed fit. Our 30-day return policy means that you can be sure that you will get the part that you need to get back on the road.
What is the clutch disc?
The clutch disc, also known as the friction disc, is a crucial component of the clutch system. Sandwiched between the pressure disc and the flywheel, this plate is splined to the input shaft of the transmission. The disc itself is covered on both sides with a layer of high friction material. When the clutch is engaged, the pressure plate and flywheel are clamped together firmly, allowing the rotational force of the engine to be transferred to the drive wheels.
How much does a clutch disc cost?
Most of our clutch discs fall between the range of $50 and $200. The actual cost of the part will depend on factors such as make, model and year of manufacture. There can also be quite a bit of difference between basic, dependable replacement parts and premium parts designed for those looking for a really refined ride.
What happens when clutch discs wear out?
Since clutch discs are designed to handle some of the toughest mechanical work done under the hood, they are naturally prone to wear down over time. The normal, but frequent, process of engaging and disengaging the clutch leads to the slow deterioration of the friction material that allows mechanical force to be transferred from the flywheel to the clutch. This can lead to sluggish or unresponsive gear shifting.
It's also a good idea to replace the friction disc whenever you are replacing another clutch component. Damaged parts can cause discs to wear down unevenly. Even if the plate itself does not look damaged, it's probably best to err on the safe side.
What are the warning signs of a failing disc?
There are a few common symptoms of clutch wear to be on the look out for. If your car shakes or shudders as you pull up on the clutch pedal it could be a sign of uneven erosion of the friction plate. Slower acceleration and less responsive gear shifting are probably the most easily noticed signals that you should check your entire clutch, including the friction disc.
