Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma is known worldwide for its quality, performance and ruggedness. It can hold up in some of the toughest conditions and still come out looking as great as it did going in. It is one of the lightest weight pickup trucks on the market to date, and it is dependable, affordable and versatile - no wonder it has dominated its market since its inception. Over the years, there have been three primary generations of the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in the United States. The first generation, which rolled out in 1995, was initially categorized as a compact truck. For 2005 and beyond, the second and third generation Tacoma trucks were upgraded in classification to mid-size.

In its first generation, the Tacoma was powered by a 2.4-liter or a 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine or a 3.4-liter, V-6 engine with anywhere between 142 and 190 horsepower. These trucks were available in regular or extended cab and rear- or four-wheel-drive. For the decade it was available for sale, it was redesigned multiple times aesthetically.

The second generation Tacoma rolled out in 2005 and remained on the market for 10 years. Consumers had a choice of two engines: a 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine with 159 horses or a 236-horsepower, 4.0-liter, V-6 engine. The pickup had a towing capacity between 5,000 and 6,500 pounds. In 2009, traction control, stability control and multiple safety attentions became standard. This is also the generation that saw a number of new on-road and off-road configurations, such as skid plates, upgraded wheels and tires, cruise control and audio controls on the steering wheel, as well as the introduction of new models, including Regular Cab, Double Cab, Access Cab and X-Runner.

The third and most current generation of the Tacoma took exterior styling cues from the Toyota Tundra and 4Runner, which seems to have paid of well for the manufacturer. The suspension was upgraded and it even comes standard with a wheel-and-tire package that is ready to go off-road. The front end of the pickup truck has been completely redesigned and features more aggressive characteristics. Underneath the hood, consumers will find either a 2.7-liter, four-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V-6 with up to 278 horsepower. The frame has been increased in durability in order to strengthen its rigidness, and only high-strength steel is used to ensure that the Tacoma remains one of the lightest trucks on the market. Suspension continues to be updated on a regularly basis in order to keep it off-road capable.

While the Toyota Tacoma is impressive in its right and how it comes off the lot, many Tacoma owners choose to make it their own by going above and beyond Toyota Tacoma parts OEM and choosing to add Toyota Tacoma off road parts and Toyota Tacoma accessories to their pickup. This is particularly true if they plan to take their mid-size truck off the main road for some fun in the mud, on the rocks, or on some other form of rough terrain. If you're planning on taking yours off-road, you will want to ensure that you are fully-equipped to handle whatever obstacles come your way by finding a comprehensive parts site, like PartsGeek.com, that offers various parts that you may need, such as lift kits, winches and light bars.

I have placed several orders at Parts Geek. Most recently I replaced the front calipers, rotors, pads and hardware. The prices were great, the shipment arrived very timely and the parts were all correct. I returned the calipers for the core deposits and received a credit to my account within 8 days of returning the parts. I would recommend Parts Geek to anyone.
