Dodge Ram 2500

The Dodge Ram transformed the truck world in 1994 when it proved that full-size pickups could be made to resemble something prettier than a half ton slab of concrete. The heavy-duty Dodge Ram 2500 boasted an athletic, rugged look that was inspired by the fender design and prominent grilles of the big rigs. This new look must have hit home with America's truck-buying public, as Ram sales immediately doubled with the new model and would double once again by 1999. The most-recent-generation Ram had an even more muscular body and engine lineup, plus a versatile selection of cab styles. Although the Dodge Ram technically ceased to exist after the 2010 model year, it lives on as the prototype for the new Dodge Ram 2500.

This fourth-generation Dodge Ram 2500 debuted for 2010. Compared to the previous Ram 2500, this one got revised styling, a classy interior, a retuned suspension and the new Crew Cab, which replaced the previous generation's Quad Cab body style. This Dodge Ram 2500 was available with two-wheel or four-wheel drive and came in a variety of body styles and trim configurations. A regular cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab comprised the body styles. Trim levels consisted of the basic ST, the volume-selling SLT and the luxurious Laramie. Higher trim levels offered standard and optional features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, Bluetooth, and a hard-drive-based navigation system. Standard on all Ram 2500 trucks was a 5.7-liter V8 that made 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. This hefty power plant came with a five-speed automatic transmission. For greater towing capability, there was a 6.7-liter inline six-cylinder Cummins turbodiesel that produced 350 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque. It was paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic. With its powerful engine lineup, wide range of body styles and compliant highway ride, the Dodge Ram 2500 is a very efficient heavy-duty pickup truck. The new Crew Cab model was a step above the relatively cramped Quad Cab from the previous-generation truck. This Ram's interior is a standout among trucks, with a laudable design and materials.

There are potential afflictions to watch out for in the Dodge Ram 2500. The AC/heater system may unexpectedly switch to the defrost mode when accelerating. This system is operated by engine vacuum and should be inspected for any vacuum leaks if this problem develops. There is also a revised vacuum check valve available to address this concern. Valve body may fix an issue where the transmission surges between first and second gears. Another issue will come to light if you feel a vibration or shimmy in the steering wheel when driving over rough roads. This may be the result of a worn steering damper and tie rod ends. Be sure the tires are correctly inflated, that alignment is within specification, and suspension components are tightened properly. If you find you need to replace a part, do not hesitate in contacting, where the best Dodge Ram 2500 oem and aftermarket parts can be found at reasonable prices.
