Chevrolet HHR

The 2006 model year saw Chevrolet dipping into the past and resurrecting a retro vibe with the introduction of the HHR (Heritage High Roof) wagon. Inspired by classic Chevy vehicles of the 1940s, the 2006 Chevrolet HHR's profile cut a stunning and unique path through the modern car design world. The stylish wagon was built for cruising comfort and utility. The HHR was considered a compact car and it came configured as a 5-door wagon with a 2.2 liter 4-cylinder engine and the option of either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Chevrolet HHR was designed with flexibility in usage in mind. The rear seats in the passenger version of the HHR included a flat-load 60/40 split bench seat and a fold-flat front passenger seat which allowed maximum cargo capacity and a variety of seating configurations. There were multiple trim-levels (LS, LT, 2LT, and a Special Edition version) which offered consumers a variety of options and accessories. Chevy also introduced a non-passenger, panel van variant in 2008.

The Chevy HHR was assembled in Mexico for sales throughout North America. The HHR was also exported to Japan, where it found some popularity despite the fact that Japanese consumers had to pay an additional, annual tax to own an HHR because the model did not conform to the strict regulations for compact cars in Japan. Sales of the HHR were respectable, but not stellar with a peak year in 2007 followed by a steady drop in sales in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, Chevrolet announced a new variant of the HHR: the HHR SS Turbocharged. The HHR SS featured a powerful engine, racing suspension, ground effects, upgraded braking systems, leather steering wheel, and many other premium features.

The Chevrolet HHR SS did little to stall the slide of the model into obscurity. Sales continued to decline and it came as little surprise when Chevrolet announced the demise of the HHR in 2010. The 2011 HHR was the final incarnation of the vehicle.

Because the model was relatively short-lived (and suffered from lack-luster sales in the last few years of its short history) it can be difficult to find Chevy HHR accessories. There are still a large number of HHR vehicles on the road, and HHR owners are looking for Chevy parts on Ebay and via other online sources. But, searching keywords on Ebay or Craigslist isn't always the most efficient way to locate Chevrolet auto parts. Instead, consider using a site like, which features a fully searchable and accurate digital Chevrolet HHR parts catalog. At, you'll find the parts you need to keep your HHR running for years to come.

The handle was very easily changed. The instructions were a little vague, but the youTube video showing the product was dead on. Reasonably priced, quickly shipped. 30 minute job for a novice.
