Ford F250

The Ford F250 is one in a line of Super Duty trucks launched by Ford in early 1998 for the 1999 model year. The Super Duty trucks are larger, heavier built pickup trucks with heavier-duty body-on-frame steel ladder frames, axles, springs, brakes, transmissions, and more powerful engines than the earlier equivalent vehicles. The Ford F-250 Super Duty has a new, larger front end that eliminated many load restriction issues found in its predecessors.

If you own a Ford F-250 Super Duty, you might experience the "death wobble," which is a shaking in the steering wheel that could cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Owners encountering this problem should first check their tire pressure. The pressure specification is on the label in the driver's doorjamb. After setting the tire pressure, take the truck out for a road test check if the condition has been resolved. If it persists, you need to replace the steering damper and the bracket. The part numbers for the new steering damper are 5C3Z-3E651-B for the 4x2's and 8C3Z-3E651-C for the 4x4's. The part number for the new bracket is 7C3Z-3E652-C. Make sure all of all the other front suspension parts are tightened as well, adjusting them to specification as required. If the problem still persists, inspect the front alignment and reduce the front caster. The death wobble could be due to uneven tire balance caused by tire wear. Another cause of this problem could be a properly balanced tire that has lost some or all of its wheel weights.

To prevent the onset of such troubles, balance and rotate your tires at each oil change. Another possible trigger of the death wobble is improper steering alignment. Proper alignment and caster cams will usually get your caster back to the proper specification. The track bar, when any of its components are defective, can transfer vibrations and start the oscillations that eventually become death wobble. In this case, tightening the track bar should help prevent the death wobble. Check for worn tie rod ends, bent tie rods, a faulty drag link, worn-out ball joints, and wheel bearings and replace them since these are all possible causes of the death wobble. Once you have ruled out all of these possibilities, check for faulty internal parts in the steering box. The Ford F250 Super Duty has a reputation as a well built car, but with wear the most solid cars will break down without routine servicing and repair. The quality manufacture and high value that belong to a Ford F250 Super Duty are good reasons for always using performance and aftermarket systems of equal value. Excellent auto parts are needed to keep your Ford F250 in running order. When you need to find the exact Ford F250 parts to bring your vehicle up to its optimal running status, it makes sense to shop for the highest-ranked OEM and replacement parts you can buy - and at Parts Geek you find the most affordable prices around all done with first-rate customer service.
