Ford Escape

If you are looking for a crossover vehicle that is compact in nature, then you could consider the Ford Escape. This vehicle was introduced to the auto market in the year 2000. Ford Motor Company has manufactured more than three generations of this particular vehicle. The initial model released in the year 2000 was actually seen in auto showrooms in the year 2001. The same model was released with the Japanese Mazda Tribute model.

Both the Tribute and the Escape have similar underpinnings, which were made from the CD2 platform. These underpinnings were based on the Mazda GF. The panels that both vehicles have in common are the floor pressings and the roof. Mazda provided the powertrains for the Tribute model as it relates to the inline-four engine. Ford offered an optional V6 engine. Initially, Ford assembled both of these models in the United States, specifically for consumption in North America. The Tribute was made for alternate markets. When Ford offered the first generation of the Ford Escape, it was sold in China and Europe, altering the name to Ford Maverick. This was done to replace the Nissan model.

In the year 2004, Ford got ready to introduce the 3005 Ford Escape model. This version was labeled Mercury Mariner. This was sold primarily in North America. The original vehicle continues to be popularly known as the first SUV, offering an option for a hybrid drivetrain. The mainstream manufacturing of the first generation of this vehicle came to an end in the latter months of 2006. Production was completely transferred to Taiwan. An extension of the production phase continued to 2010 and lingering until 2012.

The second generation of this vehicle was released in 2007 and it was introduced to the auto market in the year 2008. However, the introduction was limited to the North American region. The first generation vehicle models in other markets were replaced by upgraded version that were manufactured in Taiwan or by the 2008 Ford Kuga, which is entirely unrelated. The second generation model in North America was just a restructure with a carryover on the mechanicals. However, it was restyled with an interior, which was redesigned as well as with hanging panels.

In comparison to the combined approach that was taken with the preceding vehicle model, the engineering and design was also done by Ford Company. In this case, another option was the hybrid vehicle. It was in the year 2012 that Ford stopped manufacturing the Ford Escape, to the enthusiast's dismay. However, Ford was quick to introduce the third generation model in the following year; but again, this was restricted to North American only, even though, the manufacturing was done in the United States. Ford did a merger of the Ford Kuga and the Ford Escape as it related to their style. The powertrains were a little different in the third generation Ford Escape.
