Chevrolet Cobalt
From 2005 through 2010, Chevrolet manufactured the wildly popular Cobalt model to replace both the Prizm and the Cavalier. Drivers appreciated its spacious interior, sporty handling, and safety features. High fuel efficiency and a low upfront price for the vehicle contributed to the number of sales. Despite being a compact car, the Chevy Cobalt was available in three models: a spacious, 4-door sedan; a comfortable, 2-door coupe; and a high-performance Super Sport.
Over the years, the Chevrolet Cobalt was constantly being updated and improved. The year after it introduced the Cobalt, Chevrolet put the Super Sport (SS) model on the market. Also in 2006, the LTZ became the premium package vehicle, and the LT was the mid-level option. Upgrades to the various Chevrolet Cobalt parts were made in 2007 with a new on-board computer featuring a 32-bit processor, which was much better than the old 16-bit system. Name changes came to the SS models in 2008, with the sedan relabeled the "Sport Sedan" and the coupe now called the "Sport Coupe." In 2008, aesthetic and comfort changes were also made. There were now more colors for consumers to choose from for both the inside and outside of the car, and once luxury options like, side air bags, an MP3 player, and XM radio all became standard equipment. The SS Coupe also had the reconfigurable performance display (RPD) which would automatically make adjustments to the performance based on information gathered from the engine. The final year of production, 2009, saw a new SS Sedan added to the Cobalt line and Bluetooth capability added to all models.
Despite its popularity, there were several recalls for Cobalts throughout its production history, and in 2010, this model gave way to the Chevy Cruze. Chevy Cobalt recalls covered several model years. Those made in 2005 and 2006 required additional padding to be added to prevent head injuries in the event of an accident. Vehicles from 2007 through 2009 sold in hot, southern states were recalled for a potential fuel leak caused by hot weather damaging components of the fuel system. Other recalls covering several model years included those to repair a faulty ignition switch and to fix power steering problems. Replacement Chevrolet Cobalt parts for these recalled models easily rectified the problems. The ease of fixing the initial production problems on the Cobalt kept this vehicle as a top seller for several years.
The five years of production and numerous body styles yielded a large number of options in the Chevy Cobalt parts catalog. These parts may be used to replace recalled components or to fix something that has become worn through regular driving. Chevrolet Cobalt performance parts for the SS or Sport models are included along with components needed to repair the base models. Whether you need to save money by purchasing aftermarket or used Chevy Cobalt parts or if you must have OEM parts, look on the Internet. Online outlets, such as PartsGeek.com, have access to the full catalog of Chevy Cobalt parts and components and can help you to find the exact parts you need for your Cobalt.
