Chevrolet C1500

The Chevrolet C/K pickup models revolutionized the transition of pickup trucks from being used only at work to serving as multi-purpose vehicles for both family and work purposes. From higher-quality cabin materials to surging advances in aerodynamic design, these new pickups marked the inception of the cutting edge technology that today is the norm for pickup trucks. The C/K line of Chevrolet 1500 pickups is no longer being manufactured, yet people are still buying them second hand.

The Chevrolet C1500 is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by General Motors and Chevrolet. In the US, Silverado C/Ks were produced from 1960 until 2002. The "1500" indicates a half ton truck. The difference between C1500 and K1500 Chevy Trucks is in their drivelines. The "C" indicates 2-wheel drive, while "K" indicates 4-wheel drive. The "New Generation" C/Ks entered 1989 as the best-sellers in GM's lineup. It was the beginning of numerous changes for Chevy's C/K line. Regular-cabs and Extended-Cabs received a new 4x4 sport graphic option. The 4x4 Sports featured blackout wheel flares, bumpers, mirrors, a front air dam and tow hooks. The brake system was enhanced by protecting the parking brake cable with revised routing and a new shield. A molded, semi-metallic brake lining was installed to reduce noise. Improvements continued to be made in the C/K line for the next decade, after which they were replaced in 1999 by the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra names.

Even the best vehicles have their ups and downs, and one thing to watch out for in the Chevrolet C1500 is a blown head gasket. If you suspect that you have this problem, there are several signs for you to look for to either confirm or allay your suspicions. Contaminated oil is a direct result of a head gasket that has sprung a leak. Look for a milk-like ring around your oil cap, which will indicate that your coolant has been mixed with your oil. If your oil has become contaminated, replace your head gasket and change your oil. Water leaking from your car's exhaust pipe is another sign of a blown gasket. Also, if there is a sweet odor emanating from the exhaust, or white smoke coming out of your car's tailpipe, you're most likely dealing with the same cause. If your head gasket has sprung a leak, air bubbles are liable to find their way into your radiator. In order to confirm the presence of air bubbles, carefully remove your radiator cap. Then, rev your engine several times. If air bubbles emerge, you will know what to do. If you use a green coolant and find a greenish hue on your spark plugs, your head gasket is the likely cause. Furthermore, if you notice coolant spraying out of your spark plugs' holes, replace your head gasket immediately. Finally, if your engine has been slow or unresponsive, you may be dealing with a blown gasket, in which case it would be wise to waste no time in replacing it with a new one from PartsGeek.com, which boasts a full catalog of Chevrolet C1500 oem and aftermarket parts at prices you can afford.
