Have you wondered how your Porsche Boxster got its name? It's actually a reference to its “boxer,” or pancake-type engine with its horizontally-opposed pistons, and the fact that its a “roadster” - “box” plus “roadster” being “boxster.” What contributes to this vehicle's legendary handling however is not just its engine, but the fact that it this engine is located in at the vehicle's center of gravity, providing excellent stability. What also contributes to the Porsche Boxster's handling and performance is regular maintenance, particularly of key suspension and engine components. Be certain that these are replaced as the become worn in order to maintain your Porsche Boxster in peak condition and keep that “fun-to-drive” quotient high.

Porsche Boxster
The Porsche Boxster proves that adversity can propagate success. Arising from the most troubled period in modern Porsche history, the Boxster was met with both media and public acceptance when it was introduced in 1997. Porsche's sales and cash reserves had been crashing after more than a decade of price escalation due to the rising value of the German mark. Survival demanded new models that cut costs through greater component sharing. But after many meetings, the executives at Porsche agreed that another high-priced, low-volume car wasn't the answer to their situation. What they needed was a low-cost sports car that could sell profitably and in far greater numbers than the 911. Just four years after the Boxster's debut, Porsche volume had almost quadrupled to nearly 56,000 units. But it had been a precarious road to success, as the first response to the Porsche Boxer in 1996 was that is was just another retro roadster.
In late 1996, James P. Womack, author of The Machine That Changed the World, termed the Boxster a "bet-the-company" miracle car. To make any money on the car, Porsche would have had to sell it for $80,000." Base prices for 1997 were half that. But fine as this half-price vehicle was, it was not without its problems. A cable inside the door of Model Year 1998 and later Boxsters is subject to so much stress that it sometimes snapped, occasionally disabling the inside door handle From time to time, a broken or defective microswitch would caused the erratic rising and lowering of windows. Infrequently, the \ the engine RPM would spontaneously drop to almost zero, then catch itself and resume back at the original RPM. Leaking radiator caps were guilty of causing condensation of radiator fluid on the inside of the rear trunk. Light assemblies could become displaced, causing brake lights to dim and rear tail lights to show white instead of red. But the most serious and frequent problem with the Porsche Boxster is oil leaks. Such leakings have many causes. Too much gunk can collect between the gasket and the engine, causing an imperfect seal, or there might not be enough lubricant on the spark plug gasket, causing it to tear during installation. or there might be a leak through the crank case wall. Some of these problems have been resolved in the manufacturing process and should not recur in new engines. If you have an oil leak repaired, make sure the dealer thoroughly cleans the engine. There are a lot of places that oil can gather on the engine and continue to drip. If the engine isn't clean, you may think you have a leak, when you don't.
Today's performance-minded vehicle owners know that the way to turbocharge the performance of their Porsche Boxster is by installing parts that maximize performance.. Sporty vehicles were made to be pushed to the limits of abuse, but then serviced and maintained. The Porsche Boxster was built with care and expertise; it deserves new components of a similar high level of value. People who enjoy optimized car or trucks understand that there's nothing more crucial than installing the most durable \parts and accessories. To keep your vehicle humming in top condition you'll want the best in replacement parts. Come to PartsGeek any time you are in the market for Porsche Boxster oem and aftermarket parts.
