BMW 535i xDrive
The BMW 5 Series includes a number of favorite vehicles and has been around since 1972. These models, including the BMW 535i xDrive, are reliable vehicles that have become popular for their dependable engines and smooth handling. Find out more about what makes these cars tick and how they've become so popular while you browse for your new BMW 535i xDrive parts.
Short History
The first BMW 535i came out in 1986 as part of the 5 Series. Before that, BMW had been producing 5 Series vehicles such as the BMW E12 5-Series, which was the most successful car in the world at that time, a title it held for six years in a row. The 5 Series has the distinction of being the only sedan released in 1972 with full manual transmission. The 535i has not had a continuous run, but when it has been in production, it has sold well. It was the face of the BMW sedan until 1993 when the V8 took on that responsibility, but the 535i hasn't lost all its popularity and is now available in both sedan and hatchback styles. The current models offer a variety of choices from low-emissions engines to the BMW xDrive, an award-winning four-wheel-drive option.
Specific Care
One of the advantages of a 535i is the relative ease of finding spare parts. The interior is fitted with a variety of smart technology and safety features, which can be complicated to repair, but many mechanics are enthusiastic about what's under the hood. It has a gasoline engine, though some models are moving toward hybrid engines for increased eco-friendly stats. It has a standard six cylinders and averages 23 miles to the gallon. The xDrive is BMW's four wheel drive option, which offers optimized drive when you need it. The eight-speed automatic transmission works in perfect sync with this system to get power where it's needed to keep this little sedan from getting stuck. Like many German cars, the mechanical parts on the 535i can be a bit delicate. Some parts are buried pretty deep inside the car's compact hood, so maintenance sometimes takes a bit longer and can be more expensive than in some other brands. If you're a home mechanic, don't let the relative complexity make you balk from making repairs, though, as long as you know what you're doing with reasonable certainty and are getting a great deal on parts from PartsGeek.com.
Fun Facts
- The BMW 5 Series comes in three styles, the sedan, the hatchback (known as the Touring) and the five-door fastback (AKA the Gran Turismo).
- The 5 series is the first BMW to use a series of numbers in its name, hence the "Series" title.
- The 535i has won several awards for dependability and value.
- BMW is one of the few companies that continues to produce classic parts, including parts dating back to the 1940s, making it much easier for collectors to make repairs to classic models.
Although there might not be such a thing as the perfect car, the BMW 353i xDrive has a lot of great features. At PartsGeek.com, we're here to make sure yours is always running its best with great discount parts.

I knew I had a trunk lid problem when I almost lost some teeth opening my trunk. The dampers were shot and the springs would rocket the trunk lid open. The DIY replacement I would rate “relatively easy”. Watch it on YouTube to make life easier...my trunk lid opens in a controlled motion now. Very happy with the product. - As good as new
Good quality axle, my car ticked before when i made right turn’s so i bought the axle. Amazing quality for the price! Dealer charges $1,090 per axle for that price you can replace both sides and still have quite a bit of extra money in your pocket. - F10 535i Xdrive
Part for in my car. So that made me happy. The cracking went away after the part was out in my car so that makes me really happy. Glad the part wasn’t so expensive. Thank you so much. - Thanks for the right axel
