The BMW 318i sedan is a five-speed manual vehicle that has an inline four-cylinder engine. It is rear-wheel drive and can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 9.3 seconds; not bad for a four-door sedan. The BMW 318i has a top speed of 135.5 miles per hour and can go 31.79 miles per gallon. You can fit five passengers into this car, making it ideal for trips or just getting around town. The design of the 318i is very classy and detailed, making it eye-candy for everyone around it. It has great features available and is a great car for families and individuals alike. To ensure that your BMW lasts a long time, it is important that you purchase quality parts whenever doing maintenance and repairs on it. It isnít a good idea to settle for cheap parts that will only break down and require more money to be spent.

BMW 318i

A decade has passed since the BMW 318i enjoyed the status of being the most popular luxury car on the market. Now the 318i is back, although its return doesn't bring the same segment-defining ambience and authority of its forebears. For the first time the 318i has only three cylinders instead of four, but the help of a turbocharger on the little 1.5-cylinder helps pump the raw numbers up. However, the theorem is only applicable up to a point. A gentle squeeze of the accelerator has the eight-speed auto dropping down a ratio or two and striving to tap into its modest 100kW power peak. It works best in lower speed gentle driving, where its flexibility and relaxed nature can be appreciated. Kick it harder and the gearbox downchange can be overly dramatic. Everything considered, the 318i is the most affordable 3-Series on sale, stepping in for the 316i that has departed as part of this minor model update.

BMW had some work to do in bringing the 3's equipment levels up to speed with the newly-arrived competitors. Standard fare now includes a reversing camera, head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone air-conditioning, satellite-navigation and various active safety systems, including lane change warning. The 318i also gets 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the full auto emergency braking has been replaced with partial auto braking. It's a familiar BMW inside, from the grains on the plastics to the clean and easy-to-use collection of buttons. The eight programmable buttons are as simple and all-encompassing as is the 318i's blend of tradition and technology. The iDrive controller makes navigating the infotainment functions a snip, with its cluster of main menu buttons a breeze for darting in and out of menus. Storage could require some careful packing, with the glove box and shallow center console the best places to keep valuables out of sight. There's also the cupholders and door pockets for purse and pocket essentials. The seats and adjustability to the driving position win back some of the lost points, providing excellent comfort and decent visibility.

Fitting the car with the Adaptive M suspension provides a firmer damper setting for sportier driving. It's not as aggressive as some BMW M systems have been in the past, still allowing decent compliance, albeit with more jiggling over poor quality surfaces. Thankfully body control is excellent in all modes; the 3-Series sits impressively flat and feels planted when cornering. There is more agility than this generation 3 has enjoyed previously, making for a more enticing and engaging machine. Ultimately the three-cylinder engine limits its usefulness on country roads and for those who want to better explore the dynamic ability of the rest of the vehicle, but it's appropriately priced and well suited to suburban duties, bringing an extra dash of personality to the most affordable 3-Series on the market.

The failure of a side door window regulator may cause the window to stop working, in some cases falling straight down into the door. It will be necessary to replace the failed regulator in order to correct this concern. Look to for the finest in BMW 318i oem and aftermarket parts.
