Audi 200 Quattro
Starting in 1979, Audi introduced its 200 model to the world, but it wasn't until 1989 that full-time four-wheel drive, known as Quattro, was an option. The Audi 200 Quattro remained in production until 1991, with the release of the Audi 200 Quattro 20V Turbo option, which was the most powerful and extravagant 200 made. Bad press in the 1980s contributed to the drop in Audi sales in the states, and they never picked up enough to warrant continuing the Audi 200 Quattro line, but fans of this car praise its powerful engine that is second-to-none.
The Quattro is Audi's proprietary permanent all-wheel drive system. It is still in use on vehicles today, but in the late 1980s, the Audi 200 was one of the first to have this as an option. Before it was released to the public, the 200 Quattro Turbo version was entered into the Trans-Am Series as a contestant, in which it one eight out of the thirteen racing events. This racing version of the 200 Quattro continued to be used until Audi left the racing world in 1991. The car that was made available to the public was not so different from the racing car.
The Audi 200 Quattro featured a five-cylinder, in-line engine, in 1991, it was billed as having an unprecedented 20 valves for more power under the hood in a dual overhead cam engine. The engine delivered 217 horsepower, which was an increase even from the Audi 200 Turbo, which had 197 horsepower. This powerful car attested to its racing origins, but it perhaps proved too powerful for American audiences who typically preferred more driver friendly cars with extra amenities to make driving easier such as traction and stability control, which were lacking in the 200. By 1991, sales had dropped in the United States for Audi, and it marked the last year of Audi engines before the company began to use many more Volkswagen parts in its cars.
Audi constructed a well-built driving machine, but many owners today may still encounter problems with certain Audi 200 Quattro parts. The most likely parts to require replacement are those that typically wear with age or lack of use. Suspension parts such as CV boots, bushings, and shocks may need to be replaced if the car has not been driven for a while. For many people acquainted with auto repair, replacing these parts should not be too difficult, but finding the parts will be the key.
Whether you are a mechanic or need to purchase parts for one, you will still want to find the right parts without spending too much. Online outlets such as PartsGeek.com have everything you need to repair your Audi 200 Quattro. Get your car back to its racing status or enhance it with Audi 200 Quattro performance parts. These items and many more can be found online. Did you opt for the Turbo version? You can find replacement components for that, too, at PartsGeek.com. Make it your first source for parts for your Audi 200 Quattro.
Works great, not as stiff as the blistiens, makes the ride much smoother.
bought it as a back-up, was left stranded by the factory part. The part looks to be good quality.
This wire-set is for the MC motor, 10v turbo, I needed the ones for the 3b 20v turbo motor, should of known the price was too good, and there was no picture in the catalog to verify the style. 50/50 blame on that one. Nice wire set for a 10vt
works great, its a cap for the reservoir, not much to it.
good price, works well, its a can of powersteering fluid
Excellent OEM replacement shipped timely and correctly!
