BMW 135i
For BMW lovers, the 135i is a good pick. It's the top model of the coupe and convertible range that's available. However, it's not known for its longevity or low maintenance cost.
How to maintain your BMW 135i
The first task on your mind as a car owner should be proper maintenance and care of your car. It's essential that your vehicle receives regular checks to both increase its lifespan and catch any issues early. There are a few simple tasks involved in maintenance to promote your car's health inside and out.
- Regular oil changes
- Cabin air filter replacements
- Engine air filter replacements
- Windshield wiper swaps
- Tire pressure checks
- Leather care (if applicable)
Some of these tips are straightforward and obvious; everyone knows you need to change your oil regularly. However, there are a few other tips that tend to slip under the radar. One not mentioned above is the need to wash your car often. It's not just an aesthetic option: It's a necessity. If you live in an area with lots of birds or often park under a berry or other fruit-bearing tree, this is especially true. Bird poop, fruit juice and other substances can eat away at your clear coat and also your paint if they are not washed off. When cleaning your car, it's also advised to wash the door jams and the wheel wells. These are areas where dirt or gravel dust can build and collect moisture: This leads to rust.
To make maintenance easier for you, we here at PartsGeek.com recommend keeping spare replacement parts on hand. A good list to reference is the maintenance tasks listed above. When you take your car into the shop or dealership to have the oil changed or such, they charge you top market value for the supplies they use. Therefore, it's best to buy them from us at our wholesale prices and bring them to the shop with you. This can save you a hefty chunk of change over time.
Common 135i problems
The 135i isn't known for its dependability, but it's still a well-loved car by many. It has a few issues that many owners report, and the most prevalent problems commonly apply to the N54 engine, specifically.
First, the turbocharger can fail along with a wastegate rattle. Usually, this is caused by simple wear and tear on the engine. Running higher boost levels quickens how fast the failure occurs due to the increase in pressure. Symptoms of this issue are a rattling noise from the engine, loss of power, codes giving low engine boost errors and smoking exhaust. The fix is typically a full turbo replacement which is expensive from regular sources. We at PartsGeek.com, however, offer you these parts at wholesale prices.
Another common issue is a failing high-pressure fuel pump. This occurs mainly due to poor engineering, but usually, your warranty covers the repairs.
How are our prices so cheap?
We are able to offer such great wholesale prices due to the nature of our business. Our inventory of more than 10 million parts is online, rather than in a physical store. Thus, we don't have some of the overhead costs that your local parts store might have. Because of this, we are able to offer you the lowest prices available.

The unit looks like the original and fit was great for body seal and attachment bolts. However this unit did not have the slot on top to fit the small tab on the trunk. Dremel tool took of about 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch tab. New part had a small ridge on the bottom that also needed to be removed to fit slot on trunk. Looks and works great. - Works great with modifications
Arrived quickly and was the exact match to the original. Understanding that it is a BMW part though, it was pricy for a 1"x2" piece of plastic.
Accepted painting exceptionally well and looks like it was new. Nice replacement part. - Quality but pricey
excellent product, very fair prices and shipping time is incredible. Makes a marked difference in interior lighting! - Joe Re
This tool is invalualbe, you cannot due the job without this alignment tool
thanks for the great price, great shipping and great customer service
thanks - Great Tool
This is a well built part, but I did have to get out the dremel to remove some of the plastic in order for it to fit properly in my 2011 BMW 135i. On the bottom, there was a small plastic strip that had to be removed. This was fairly easy. On the top, I had to cut away part of the plastic housing in order for the light to slide into the hole properly. This wasn't quite as easy, but you can get it done if you take your time. I think for the price, this is a good part. - BMW third brake light
I have ordered many items from PartsGeek, as usual the items were exactly as described, the price very fair and the shipping time was excellent....Thanks guys. - Joe Re
