Research on Struts for Hyundai Elantra

Struts are part of a vehicle's overall suspension system and hold the car's body off the ground. Their job is to make sure that your car is flat and balanced when you are on the road. Over time and constant usage, your struts will begin to wear down. Driving with struts that are worn out will make your car bounce continuously like a roller coaster. Although mechanics consider them to be a long-lasting and reliable component, they do break down occasionally and need to be replaced.

When Did You Replace Your Shocks/Struts?

Do you remember the last time you got your struts or shocks replaced? If you cannot remember, look out for certain signs that show that it's time to do so. These include:

o Poor steering response and noise or stiffness when steering

o Damaged/dented strut or shock bodies

o Excessive instability or "nose dive" when braking

o Uneven, cupped tire wear

o Fluid leaks from strut or shock body

o Worn, corroded, damaged or broken bushings or mounts

o Vehicle leans or sways when changing lanes or turning

o Excessive bounce

These are some of the visual and vehicle handling signs which suggest that your vehicle needs new struts.

The Vehicle's Mileage

If you are wondering as to when you need to get Hyundai Elantra replacement shocks or struts, you should check your vehicle's mileage. Tests suggest that at approximately 50,000 miles, there could be wearing down of original equipment struts and shocks to the point of necessitating replacements.

Recall of the Hyundai Elantra Due to Stability Control System Issues

Hyundai recalled 155,000 units of 2011 and 2012 Elantra produced between October 29, 2010 and October 25, 2011.

The reason for the recall was the malfunctioning of a yaw sensor in the vehicle's stability control system. The malfunctioning sensor could cause the application of one or more of the brakes apart from lowering engine power and the illumination of the ESC indicator light.

Five stars only because the computer purged the four star rating. Recently purches two strus for a Hyundai. The struts were shipped in two separated boxes, both of which appeared to have been previously opened. One box was missing the strut rod nut and washer. Contacted customer service and was informed the entire order would need to be returned. Went the parts store and bought the needed nut and washer instead of dealing with the hassle and extra time of a return. Thought they would have just sent a replacement nut and washer. Other than that, the struts fit perfectly, were priced right and included free shipping.

Recently ordered two front struts for a Hyundai. The struts each came in their own box and both boxes appearred to have been previously opened. Both struts were in new condition but one of the boxes was missing the strut rod nut and washer. Contacted customer support and was informed the entire strut would have to be returned. Went to the parts store and bought the needed nut and washer instead of having to deal with the time and hassle of a complete return. Would have thought they would send out the nut and washer. Other than that, the struts fit perfectly and were a priced right.

Great OEM replacement. Only caution is that on the box mine had a sticker that said Front Right - but all other 3 struts also had a sticker that said Front Right, so keep an eye out for that. They were all the correct parts, just weird labels.
