Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Replacement Struts Information

Chevy trucks are capable machines that tow stuff, pull things and negotiate rough terrain. All of this effort needs some good struts for the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to keep the ride smooth and the truck from riding on its leaf springs. All struts are not created equal, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Struts are designed to do a number of tasks that range from daily driver with the occasional load in the bed all the way to towing a 40-foot yacht. It's important to know the difference because the strut you get affects how your truck rides. If your truck is your main transportation and you don't do much more than that, get struts designed for that purpose. Using heavy duty struts means you're going to get a heavy duty ride. Check what the strut is intended for before you buy.

Research on Struts for Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wiki describes the Silverado name as originally used to describe a trim package from the Chevrolet C/K line of trucks from 1975-1999. The first actual Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for sale was in 1999. Over the years they have had Silverado light-duty trucks, Silverado SS trucks, and Silverado heavy-duty trucks designed for extra heavy hauling and towing. As the new Silverado trucks come out they continue to impress. A couple of Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reviews described it as a great work tool that is very simple and dependable.

Regular Inspection

If you need to inspect your struts on your truck you can easily see them when you remove the wheel in the front. The strut on your car is a piece of the structural part of the suspension system. It attaches to the top of the chassis of the vehicle and comes down to the hub of the wheel. The strut has a resting platform for the spring of the car. The spring controls the bounce and movement of your car as you drive over bumps in the road. The longer you avoid doing the change the more affect it will have on your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 towing capacity.

Every Part Serves a Purpose

If you postpone replacing any worn or broken part of your truck, then this can cause you to change other parts too. Avoiding a strut replacement can cause unneeded pressure on the place where the suspension parts connect to your wheel, called the wheel hub. This will change your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 specs and influence how your truck drives and performs. This pressure can result in uneven tire wear causing you to change your tires prematurely. Certainly, more costly repairs over and above just the struts can show up in the future. Especially in the front of the car with the added weight of the engine contributing to the pressure.

Struts and Shocks

If you need new struts you can find some great aftermarket struts that are available for your Chevy Silverado if you are going to do strut replacement. The amount of money you decide to pay for your struts will determine how your truck rides and handles. It is a great idea to change the struts and the shocks together. Some shocks and struts are reported to give you a different ride and handling feel. Some improve stability and others may give you stiffer feel over the bumps in the road.

Silverado Struts

If you decide to change your struts and shocks in your local repair shop half of the money will be for the labor. You will spend between $287-$446 for the front of your truck. You will spend more if you do your rear struts too. With some extra time, a video or forum describing the process you can do the work on your own and save some money. Getting the parts is very easy. Delivery time was surprisingly good and the struts installed rather easily. KYB is known for their good products, and just in the few days I have driven my truck I can tell the difference from the previous brand I had. Much smoother and controlled drive; very comfortable too!

2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Strut Assembly

Reviewer: Great product!

I bought this here because O'Reillys and pep boys wanted $192 a piece, for the exact same strut, plus you don't pay tax on here if you don't live in the state they operate in. Also on a side note, I read some of the reviews on this site for this strut, and one of the reviews stated that you needed a strut compressor too install. That moron was wrong, there isn't any need for a compressor. Great product awesome price!!
