The Shock Absorber provides the added safety of more stable driving conditions and enhanced control of your car. Research on Shock Absorber for Toyota 4Runner

How soon you need to change your Toyota 4Runner shock absorber often has a strong connection to your driving habits. How much you push your vehicle over bumpy or uneven terrain will determine when your Toyota 4Runner shock replacement needs to take place. A common sign is that one or more of your shock absorbers is visibly leaking. The fluid can begin to come out of a damaged seal in the piston of the shock. This leaking fluid will attract an abnormal amount of road grime that is easy to see by inspecting your shock. If the front end of your SUV drops almost to the ground when you slam on the brakes this is also an indication that you should check your Toyota 4Runner shocks and struts. As a general rule, it is recommended to start this shock inspection process after the shock absorbers have been on the vehicle for 40,000 miles.

The Shock Absorbers Purpose

Your shock absorbers, your Toyota 4Runner struts, and the springs function as an important part of your suspension. They are not only responsible for keeping your vehicle from bouncing when you travel over bumps but they are all there to serve multiple purposes. These Toyota 4Runner auto parts work together to deliver a great ride and add more stability and handling. Shocks in good condition affect your stopping distance when you have to apply the brakes quickly and contribute to the overall safety of your 4Runner. Slamming on your brakes at 70 mph with worn out shock absorbers can cause you to travel 20 feet more before coming to a complete stop. This can be the difference that prevents an accident.

What are my Options for Shock Absorbers?

When it is time to change your shock absorber you have some options. It is best to do your shock and your Toyota 4Runner strut replacement together. You can choose to use the same brand shocks that came with your vehicle. Another very popular and common replacement is Bilstein shocks for your Toyota 4runner. Air shocks can be added also as an integral part of an air suspension system that will lift your entire vehicle. This added upgrade will give your 4Runner a whole new look and feel. These shocks adapt to the handling requirements of your SUV giving you improved stability. Surprisingly enough many aftermarket shock absorbers that are available today are better than the originals. With all these options just decide which ones you prefer.

A Smooth Ride at a Price

If you decide to take your 4Runner into a shop to change the shock absorbers you will spend between $280-$500. This is for two shock absorbers since they should be replaced in pairs. Roughly $125 of that cost is for labor. With some tools, some exra time, and a couple great videos showing the process you can do the work on your own and save that money. As for the parts you can find them at We have a Honda Pilot shock absorber, a Nissan Pathfinder shock absorber, and a shock absorber for your Toyota all at the best price. We exclusively sell auto parts online. This minimizes our overhead and maximizes your savings.

Absolutely love the ride of the new Bilsteins compared to stock Toyota Tokico's with a 170k miles. Car handles bumps great and feels much tighter overall. Rear Bilstein shocks DID include hardware, while the fronts I ordered did not.

Shocks are unbelievably comfortable compared to stocks with 170k on them. Car feels tighter and handles bumps better. Front Bilsteins DID NOT come with mounting hardware, and had to use old hardware in a pinch. Pretty disappointed in the lack of bushing/washers.
