Research on Radiator for BMW Z3

Your ride will not go far if the radiator is not working. This important part is what helps keep coolant from getting too hot and overheating the engine. Radiators fail all the time. They're exposed to heat, vibration, and other elements that can cause corrosion. It's not uncommon for a car radiator to crack and develop a leak. If you don't act quickly if a problem seems to be brewing, you could end up with a broken-down car and a huge repair bill. Radiators aren't the cheapest of auto parts, but you can find more affordable prices on the Web.

Bad Radiator Symptoms

If you have a radiator problem, the symptoms are quite evident. Cooling system issues don't remain innocuous for long. Coolant will leak onto the ground under your roadster and the engine will eventually overheat. A leak most often happens due to a bad seal, a crack, or if the radiator has rusted through. Overheating may be minimal at first, but it will be consistent, until it gets so bad the engine can break down. No coolant temperature control will be provided if the BMW Z3 aluminum radiator completely fails. Other signs to look for are the coolant light, which can indicate levels are low due to a leak, or if there is sludge in the radiator. In that case, coolant will look oily or rusty rather than green, yellow, or red. Fluids won't be able to drain properly and contaminants can pass into the engine and cause damage.

How Does the Radiator of a Car Work?

Coolant circulates from the engine to the radiator via two hoses - an upper and a lower hose. As this fluid passes through the engine block and cylinder heads, it heats up, and will cause the engine to overheat unless there's a way to cool it. That's the job of the radiator. It has many passages for coolant to flow, where air from a fan allows heat to radiate away through many small fins on the radiator's surface. Once it reaches the exit hose, coolant is reduced in temperature so the engine doesn't overheat.

What Is a Radiator Made Out Of?

Radiators had copper fins and brass tubes, headers, and side plates up until the 1980s. Brass or plastic were used for tanks in some cases. Aluminum radiators were introduced in the 1970s. It is commonly used today in car radiators.

Cost of BMW Z3 Radiator Replacement
