Jeep Wrangler Replacement Oil Pan Information

For quick performance and agile handling car enthusiasts select vehicles manufactured by Jeep. Jeep is a celebrated manufacturer of durable machines that provide power and keep you guarded on the rockiest roads. The rugged design of Jeep machines includes tough off road driving abilities and great attention to detail. When you will be going on long road trips with the family, go with a roomy vehicle that will provide you with as much room as you need by picking the Jeep Wrangler. Whether headed to work or out for fun, the Jeep Wrangler can be beneficial, as it will provide every driver with a way to get from point a to point b as well as a way to have fun on the road for any driver. Your high-performance vehicle really needs the most high-end components that you can find. A Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan can be found under the car and supports the oil pump. A vehicle's Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan is fixed to the underside of the motor and encloses the sump which holds oil as well as the oil pump. Jeep Wrangler Oil Pans are critical for engine cooling and if these parts are damaged, a vehicle's motor will definitely sustain damage.

Research on Oil Pan for Jeep Wrangler

Most people don't spend much time thinking about the oil pan - that is, until messy oil stains start showing up one the garage floor and they wind up having to add oil between oil changes. There are several seals and gaskets underneath the crankcase that can wear out and start leaking over time, but generally, such things indicate that it's time for a Jeep Wrangler oil pan gasket replacement. The good news is that in most cases, this is a fairly quick, easy fix depending on what model year your vehicle is. Granted, removing a 1997 Jeep Wrangler oil pan is going to be different than removing a 2011 Jeep Wrangler oil pan. Nonetheless, provided you have the correct tools and materials for the job, you shouldn't have much trouble.

When to Carry Out a Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan Removal

Unlike diamonds, gaskets are not forever. The most apparent sign of gasket wear and impending failure is a big oil stain underneath the front of the vehicle. A visual inspection underneath will likely reveal an oil pan that is coated with old oil. When these things are observed, you'll know that it's time for a Jeep Wrangler oil pan gasket replacement.

What Are Little Gaskets Made Of?

Since Karl Benz invented the first modern automobile in 1886, the most common gasket material was cork. Once the metal surfaces were thoroughly cleaned, an adhesive was applied to both surfaces before the gasket was put in place and the metal components joined together. These days, there are numerous materials available, all of which are superior to the cork that was the mainstay of the gasket industry for decades. Synthetic materials are best; for example, if you need a new gasket for your 2010 Jeep Wrangler oil pan, you will find that a synthetic gasket will give you many more miles and years of reliable service. Granted, it's cheaper to buy gasket material by the sheet and cut it to shape yourself - but it's not that much cheaper. For a few dollars more, you can save yourself a lot of headaches and be assured of a perfectly fitting gasket.

    Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan Removal

With the majority of engines, the oil pan is secured to the bottom of the crankcase with a number of bolts. However, a common problem arises when the old adhesive refuses to give up, making it very difficult to remove the pan. The most common way around this situation is to gently insert a flat blade screwdriver or chisel between the surfaces of the oil pan and the engine block and pry them apart (after ascertaining that you haven't missed a bolt or a screw someplace, of course).

Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan Gasket Replacement Costs

Having a professional do the job can set you back as much as $500 or more. You can save a great deal by doing the job yourself - and while you're at it, check out the discount pricing at PartsGeek.com, home of ten million auto parts and accessories. Oil pan gaskets for the Jeep Wrangler start at just over $20 - and if you wind up needing to replace the entire oil pan, replacements are available for under $55.

Product fast and as describled fit perfectly. Thanks

    1997 Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan

    Somewhat Satisfied
    Reviewer: Gene - northern NY

Very solid and well-made replacement for original oil pan. It fit perfectly but there was one problem. The outside rim along each side was closer to the bolt holes than on the original which caused the washer on each bolt to contact the rim before it was completely tightened. The installation, however, was successful and there were no leaks.

    1987 Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan

    Very Satisfied
    Reviewer: jeepaddict

Ordered oil pan gasket and rear main oil seal. Parts Geek was cheaper than anywhere else I could find and very good quality.

    1998 Jeep Wrangler Oil Pan

    Very Satisfied
    Reviewer: Brennan

Broke my oil pan driving on a trail and went to get a quote from a shop and was quoted more than double the price listed here for just the part not including labor. Parts Geek got me the oil pan for more than half what a shop will charge and switching out the pan yourself only takes about an hour.
