Research on Control Arm for BMW 330xi

A car's suspension is a marvel of engineering. It wouldn't do what it's supposed to, however, without being securely linked to the frame of the vehicle. This is the purpose of the control arm. There are lower and upper control arms in front. Ball joints link the arm to the wheels, and bushings connect it to the frame. A bad control arm or even these other components can severely impact your ride, but fortunately they can be replaced. The prices vary from place to place and the parts and mechanic's charges, but there are realistic and practical ways to save.

Signs a Control Arm Is Going Bad

The control arm assembly essentially maximizes the integrity of the suspension system. If the arm itself is bad, or you need a 330xi or 325xi control arm bushing, the symptoms can include banging sounds when you go over any bump. These are often heard when turning as well. The steering wheel may feel loose, or vibrate, or the wheel assembly itself may move or shake. Worn tires are another sign. In severe cases, there can be a lack of steering control, and this can be totally lost if a control arm breaks.

What Is the Lower Control Arm in a Car?

The lower control arm connects the lower suspension to the car frame. It provides support so that the wheels remain stable, and the forces on the road can be managed without putting too much strain on one part. It too is connected to the 2003 BMW 325xi control arm bushing, and provides the same function in the 330xi.

How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Ball Joint?

Replacing a ball joint includes the price of parts, which can range from as low as $60 to close to $150. Labor often costs more than the part itself, so you can spend as much as over $400 to replace a single ball joint. Estimates can vary widely depending on your car model and year, and where you live.

Cost of Replacing a Control Arm in a Car

The price of replacing the part differs based on where you buy it from. Local taxes and fees, your individual vehicle, and mechanic's labor factor in too. Unless you are a car expert, BMW 330xi or e46 control arm replacement DIY is a tough sell. There's a lot of work involved. You might be able to purchase a set of e46 330xi control arms and parts at a reasonable price, and a control arm a discounted rate if you shop with You might not have much control over what the shop charges for BMW e46 ball joint replacement, but our low prices, thanks to reduced overhead and savings, give you an opportunity to spend much less on auto parts and accessories. This part is a perfect fit on my 2004 330xi. Delivery was very quick (within 48 hours). Just remember to mark the orientation of the bushing before taking it off. That way the installation will be easier. On the passenger side, there is a heat shield that needs to be taken off in order to gain access to the two screws holding the bushing.
