Research on Cabin Filter for BMW 530i

Is your interior air less than fresh? Why would you subject yourself to breathing in dirty air when the solution is to simply replace the cabin air filter on your BMW 530i. This job costs a lot less than having to deal with allergens in the air when driving, and you may even be able to do your own cabin BMW E60 air filter replacement yourself. If you can access the cabin filter, you'll be able to quickly change this part and make breathing in your BMW a lot easier.

What is the Cabin Air Filter?

The cabin air filter is similar to the air filter on your home's central air conditioning or heating system. It's designed to capture particulate matter from the air before it causes breathing problems or allergy issues with you and those riding in your BMW. Sometimes, these filters may be referred to as microfilters or pollen filters. They do the same job. Your BMW 530i actually has two cabin air filters, and you'll need to replace both at the same time to maximize the cleanliness of the air.

Cabin Air Filter Location

If you're going to replace your BMW E60 cabin air filters, you'll need to know where they're located. The BMW F10 pollen filter location is a little different. These cabin filters are under the dash and accessed from inside the vehicle. For E60 530i cars, if you open your hood, you'll see a pair of covers close to the firewall in the back on top of the engine bay. These are the cabin filter covers. Remove the covers to reveal the filters inside.

How Long Does a Cabin Air Filter Last?

Generally, a cabin air filter can last anywhere from 12,000 to 15,000 miles, but this number could shrink depending on where you live. If you drive in an area with a lot of blowing dust or over unpaved roads, your cabin filters will have to work harder to remove dust from the air before it blows into the cabin. You may not have to replace it as often if you don't drive a lot. Even if your BMW is parked in your garage except for rare outings, you should still replace the cabin air filters every three years because mold and mildew can build up in even a parked car.

Signs that a Cabin Filter Needs to be Replaced

If you've lost track of how long it's been since you've replaced the cabin air filter, you'll know when to change it by watching out for unusual smells. A moldy or mildew aroma from the vents when you run the heater or air conditioner are sure signs that your cabin air filter is beyond its life. If the filters have become completely clogged, they can restrict the air coming into your vehicle.

BMW Microfilter Cost

If you think that professional installation of a cabin air filter is for you, be ready to pay for both the parts and labor, and it will cost you a lot more than if you did the job yourself. For instance, a 2007 BMW 530i microfilter replacement averages from $74 to $132. Get your filter from and install it yourself to save a lot of money.

Reviewer: 2007 BMW 530i Mann Cabin Air Filter Review

I recently purchased a 2007 BMW 530i Mann Cabin Air Filter for my 2007 BMW 530i and it fit perfectly. First had issues removing housing but once i found the correct tool, an allen head wrench, I was able to remove the old filter and verified the new on would fit perfectly prior to locking down the main filter housing. I clean the box as it had several broken leaves that got in it with a vacuum cleaner then i fitted the new filter into place. Once i installed the two filters, I locked the housing down with clips and also with the allen wrench. Easy installation and the filter helped make my cabin smell fresh again. Thanks

Note: this comes in pairs, and that's a bargain considering Denso is also an OES for most Japanese cars. This filter though is made in Germany.:)))
