Research on Brakes for BMW 330i

Stopping safely is paramount to getting you where you are going safely, but if you have a problem with your brakes, you could find that your BMW 330i takes longer to stop or fails to respond to the brake pedal as it should. This indicates a dangerous situation, and you should not continue to drive before you can get your car in for a BMW 330i brake job. A qualified dealer or mechanic will be able to assess the situation and determine exactly what needs to be fixed to get your car stopping properly so you can get to driving again.

Parts of the Braking System on a BMW 330i

Your BMW 330i or BMW 330Ci brakes have a system of components that work together to stop the car. Unlike other cars that use drum brakes on the rear wheels, BMW cars use disc brakes on all four wheels. Brakes with pads and discs- also called rotors - are designed to eventually wear out. The brake pads will likely wear out faster, and you may be able to just have the rotors refinished instead of replaced, but it depends on the level of erosion on the rotor.

How Disc Brakes Work

When you want to stop, you hit the brake pedal and almost immediately the car responds, but in reality, the system is much more complex. Your brake pedal triggers the hydraulic system that operates the pistons at each wheel. These pistons move the calipers, which close the brake pads around the rotors, stopping the car. If there is any problem with any component of this system, you won't be able to stop properly. Usually, the pads wear out first as they feel the most friction. Then the rotors become worn. Occasionally, the calipers will also need to be replaced. All of these are considered brake components.

How Much Does It Cost to Get New Brakes?

If you need a brake job, the price can vary because there are different brakes available. For example, a 2006 BMW 330i brakes and rotors set for the front wheels could cost you anywhere from $545.45 to $628.93, but you may spend more or less depending on what year your BMW is and how much your mechanic charges for labor. If you need to replace the rotors, consider getting vented rotors. These are the type most often installed on a BMW. They're superior because the vents cool the brakes, which prevents overheating and premature wear. If you really want to save money, you may consider replacing the brakes yourself, but if you have never done this, take your BMW to a professional because improperly installed brakes could cause a disaster.

BMW 330i Brakes Recall

Of all the years of manufacture of the BMW 330i, there has only been a single recall for aftermarket 2001 Cardone master brake cylinders. These have been known to leak fluid, reducing the hydraulic power of the brakes. If this recall applies to you, you may have to take your car to a dealer to get the cylinder replaced. The dealer may also recommend for your BMW 330i a brake fluid change to replace any lost fluid and to flush the system of the old. Opting for this service ensures that your braking system will have enough hydraulic fluid to transfer energy to the pistons to stop your car.

Save More on Your Brakes

Yes, new brakes can be expensive, but you should not try to cut corners by doing the job yourself if you're inexperienced or by only changing the brake disc or pads on one wheel. You should replace both front or both rear brakes at the same time, but you can still save by getting your brake set from and letting your mechanic install it for you. With competitive prices even on high-quality vented rotors, you can pay less to get the brakes your safety demands.

The pads were so cheap I was skeptical. I gave them a shot anyway. After 25,000 miles they're more than 60%, with minimal dust. Impressive, as I am usually hard on brakes.

I ordered these rotors because Brembo has a reputation for making excellent rotors. Thankfully, the new rotors came with new locator bolts. As far as I can tell, the new rotors were a perfect match for my car and stopping is smooth and quick. Only time will tell how long they should last...

I ordered the EBC green ceramic brake pads because of their low dust rating and high quality ceramics. I have to say that the pads have delivered in every way. Low noise, great stopping power and low dust. I was also pleased and surprised that the pads came with brake lube. There was plenty to use for the caliper pins as well as an anti squeal compond.i would definitely purchase again

Very good brakes. Was looking for something simple and affordable and this was perfect. I brake a lot so this was a perfect solution. Brakes gotta be changed aventually, and these ones were good. If you are willing to spend more money go for it but I do not think that spending more will makes that much of a difference when it comes to brake pads.
