What is a Dodge Ram 2500 brake booster?

Using a stored vacuum to supply force to the braking system, a brake booster is a part that allows braking of the vehicle regardless of the driver’s size. It makes braking feel effortless by moving a shaft when pressure is applied to the brake pedal. All parts involved in a brake booster work to slow your entire vehicle down.

How much does a Dodge Ram 2500 brake booster cost?

Dodge brake boosters are on average $100 to $200 at PartsGeek.com. Items vary depending on your vehicle’s make, year, and model.

What are the steps to repairing a Dodge Ram 2500 brake booster?

Like most vehicle parts, replacement is eventually necessary. To replace your brake booster, follow these directions:

  1. Collect a socket wrench, a tube nut wrench, a jack stand, brake fluid, and your new brake booster.
  2. Remove your tires by putting your vehicle in a steady position with the floor jack and stand. This step allows for a clear path to the braking system.
  3. Underneath a metal covering, use the socket wrench to open the master cylinder. Carefully remove the brake lines with the tube nut wrench, and ensure they match their original positions.
  4. Remove your master cylinder and check for leaks, and disconnect the brake booster from the brake pedal and vacuum hose.
  5. Separate the brake booster from the master cylinder (be careful of fluid spillage).
  6. Position your new brake booster in the firewall and to the brake pedal by securing it with nuts and bolts. Place the brake lines back in their original positions. Then, connect the master cylinder with the new brake booster, put the tires back on, and test your truck for proper function.

Very Satisfied

Hydroboost was shipped here super fast. Could have been packed better. FedEx must have tossed it around a bit. The mounting studs were sticking out the end of the box and the mounting plate had to be reformed to enable it to fit on truck. Once that was done everything went smooth and hydroboost worked perfect.

Shopping at Parts Geek has been great. The ordering was easy and the shipping fast. Core pricing seems a little high and especially when you have to pay the shipping on return cores. They have great products though and it is well worth shopping at this site.
