An automobile's comfort can enhance the motoring experience of the observant driver for years to come. The AC Compressor allows the cooling fluid to dissipate its heat, enabling the air-conditioning to work. After liquification after being moved by the AC Compressor, the cooling system passes the chilled air into the interior of the car. Research on AC Compressor for Dodge Ram 2500

Your Dodge Ram 2500 AC compressor may need to be replaced if you hear loud noises when using your AC or if you have weak cool air blowing from the system. If you have no cool air at all then that is an indication that you may need a Dodge Ram 2500 AC compressor replacement. Another common Dodge Ram 2500 AC problem is when the compressor leaks oil or refrigerant. The compressor is the part of the air condition unit that pressurizes the refrigerant and pumps it through the AC system.

Other Parts to Check

Your Dodge Ram 2500 AC not working can cause you to check a number of different parts before determining what the actual problem is. A Dodge Ram 2500 AC compressor clutch can fail and is a piece that you should check. The clutch will engage and cause the compressor to work properly. If the clutch doesn't engage it doesn't necessarily mean the clutch is bad. The problem could be as simple as a Dodge Ram 2500 AC fuse that is blown. If you experience fuses that are blown out consistently then you may have a dirty condenser coil.

One Last Option

If all the above-mentioned parts seem to be functioning correctly, you have the option to check your Dodge Ram 2500 AC relay. This piece is no different than any other electrical relay. The electrical contacts will eventually wear out or even burn out. Some symptoms of a weak AC relay are inconsistent cooling, your AC compressor not turning on, or no cold air at all. In the final analysis, if you determine that you need to replace the compressor, it is advisable to replace the contributing parts as well. This includes AC drier. The AC drier acts as a filter against moisture and debris for your new AC system.

A common Question

Do I need to put oil in the new compressor? You have determined that you need a new compressor and you don't want to run it dry. New AC compressor units usually come pre-oiled. However, just to be safe you can read the literature that came with the new one or some will even have a tag tied on that will tell you. The point is to not engage the compressor and let it run without oil in it. One final note is to turn the compressor by hand once it is installed to get the oil out of the cylinders and moved around before starting it up.

The Cost of Cool Air

If you decide to bring your Dodge Ram 2500 into a service shop you will be out of pocket between $520-$850. About 30% of that is for labor. That is money you can save by doing the work yourself. I am please with the compressor that I ordered as a replacement for my original. The only regret that I have is there should be new seals sent with it for the supply suction and return outlets. You find yourself having to use the old ones or stop and go out and try to find new ones before you can connect the system up. There should be new ones included. Otherwise the compressor seems to be fine.
