I first used a K&N air filter on my 2004 Silverado, I liked it so much that I replaced it with a K&N cold air intake system.I then put the same set up on my wifes 2001 Elantra, big, big difference in the car's performance.I really wanted to put a cold air intake on the Equinox, but I could not afford it at this time. I think K&N air filters and cold air intakes are very good.
