The Heliolite headlight bulb that replaces the burned out or damaged bulb in your 2001-2005 BMW 325i is a low beam Xenon D2-S, an arc source type of lighting available as an upgrade feature in new vehicles from dealers. The D2-S is a Hi-Intensity Discharge lamp, which produces light by means of an electric arc between tungsten housed inside a translucent or transparent arc tube. The white output, and the BMW reflector design system give it a purplish look. When replacing the Xenon bulb, both must be done at the same time. The Xenon bulbs change color with usage and time.
