This FTE-manufactured part is a direct-fit replacement for the clutch master cylinder of the 1983-1989 Porsche 944, for all submodels and all engines. The master cylinder is a control device that converts non-hydraulic pressure (as from a vehicle brake pedal or clutch) into hydraulic pressure, in order to move other devices which are located at the other end of the system, such as one or more slave cylinders. Master cylinders used in clutch systems operate a slave cylinder to move a throw out bearing until the high-friction material on the transmission's clutch disengages from the engine's metal (or ceramic/carbon) flywheel.
