This air mass meter is a Bosch product for use on 1999 to 2001 Volvo S80s. Air mass meters are sometimes called mass airflow sensors. The two names both refer to the job of the device to determine the amount of air coming into the engine. The airflow amount is critical when it comes to burning fuel. For anything to burn, it needs air, but the ratio of air to fuel must be carefully tuned so the fuel burns efficiently. The air mass meter measures the air coming in so the amount of fuel flowing to the combustion chamber can be adjusted. Bosch recommends installing this air mass meter on 1999, 2000, and 2001 Volvo S80s. It may not be compatible with other makes, models, or years.
