This Febi-Bilstein Rear Brake Pad Sensor fits the 2004-2010 Volkswagen Touareg. These sensors are sold individually with a 12-month or 12,000 mile manufacturer warranty. Most vehicles have only two brake pads per caliper. Brake pads are what contact and apply pressure and friction to the brake rotors/discs. While more expensive cars may use an electronic sensor, most automobile brake pads are designed equipped with a sensor that alerts the driver when the pads get too thin. Some sensors use a thin piece of soft metal that causes the brakes to squeal when thinning compromises safety, while others have a soft metal tab embedded in the pad material that closes an electrical circuit which lights a warning light.
