The window motor is often the cause when your power windows fail to operate. However, it is not always the cause, so it is best to check out other options before replacing the motor. The fist thing to check in the event of a power window failure is whether or not the source of the problem is a blown fuse. If there are no problems to be found with the fuses, then you’ll need to do a bit of disassembly and take a look at the window parts found behind the interior door panel. Once that is removed and the window regulator and switch wires are checked out and determined to be in working order, then it is pretty safe to assume the problem lies in the motor itself and start shopping for the correct replacement part for your particular year and model of vehicle, making sure to give as much attention to quality as price, as replacing your window motor isn’t a task you’ll want to do again any sooner than you have to.
