Vehicle owners ask a lot of their cars Ė but one requirement that is about as basic as it can get is the need for the vehicle to start regularly and predictably. Weíve all experienced the frustration of turning the key in the ignition and getting no response. The truth of it is that a car that starts 95% of the time might as well not start at all: we need our vehicles to fire up whenever weíre ready to go. This is why the ignition system of your car is so critical: without it, all other systems are essentially moot. Your carís ignition system depends in part on the distributor, which is responsible for routing high-voltage electricity from the ignition coil to the spark plugs. Without this component, then, an internal combustion engine canít get started, as the electrical charge canít make it to the proper location. Key components of this part include a rotating arm, a distributor cap, and a distributor shaft. The distributor shaft is generally driven by a gear on the camshaft and may be connected to the oil pump. Like any other complex part, then, itís possible for things to go awry. This is why savvy drivers depend on PartsGeek.com: here, youíll find all the components you need at great prices.

Distributor Information

An A1 Cardone Ignition Distributor is the component which dispenses the electricity made by the coil to the motor cylinders in the correct order.

A vehicle is only as good as its parts, such as an A1 Cardone ignition distributor. Outstanding car manufacturers grasp the basic importance of satisfying performance. It doesn't matter if you race your car or just take joy in driving a performance vehicle, top quality aftermarket and OEM parts are essential. People who want the most from their cars know that only the best quality aftermarket and OEM parts should be used for maintenance and repairs. The vehicle's ignition counts quite a bit on the ignition distributor which transmits high-voltage power to the spark plugs from an ignition coil. The ignition distributor is a component in the ignition system, which sends current to the cylinders in your automotive engine. An ignition distributor is a component in your vehicle's ignition system, which is what sends current to each piston in your internal-combustion engine. Car engines function by burning gas and oxygen together in a combustion chamber which then makes a shaft turn; this combustion is initiated by electrical discharges, which must be painstakingly timed. Parts of an ignition distributor include the distributor cap, the distributor shaft plus the distributor arm with the shaft; occasionally in earlier cars the distributor is also attached to the oil pump.

The Beck Arnley Ignition Distributor is one part of the ignition system, which allocates electrical power to each piston in your internal combustion motor.

The right parts for the job, like a Beck Arnley ignition distributor, are just a mouse click away when you order from PartsGeek. A vehicle's performance is the culmination of several factors including high quality parts. Your car or truck is an investment due to its high performance and great style, so to keep it humming in its best condition you want the best in replacement parts. Your car or truck demands the best replacement parts you can find. Ignition distributors are one important control in allocating the electrical energy to the combustion chambers according to the proper timing; if your car's motor is firing irregularly then a new cap is probably what your car needs. Your ignition distributor is part of the ignition system, which distributes current to the cylinders in an automotive motor. Your vehicle's ignition system counts heavily on the ignition distributor which transmits high-voltage electrical energy to the spark plugs from your ignition coil. Internal-combustion motors make power by combusting gasoline and O2 together in a piston which in turn turns a shaft; this combustion is initiated by an electrical spark, which has to be timed with great precision. Parts of an ignition distributor normally include the distributor cap, the distributor shaft and the distributor arm with your shaft; occasionally in older cars the distributor is also connected to your oil pump.

An automobile's Bosch Ignition Distributor is the component that dispenses the voltage from the ignition coil to all the cylinders in the correct order.

We here at PartsGeek.com understand what it's like to love your car, and so we are committed to helping you find the perfect Bosch ignition distributor. Take your auto to a superlative level of operation with performance components. If you bought a high-performance car because it had high-end power and performance, protect your investment and install first rate new parts. No matter if you race or just enjoy driving a performance vehicle, the highest quality auto parts are essential. Pieces of the ignition distributor can include a distributor cap, the distributor shaft plus the distributor arm with the shaft; often in older cars the distributor is also connected to the oil pump. Ignition distributors are a critical factor in distributing the electrical energy to the cylinders in the proper timing; if your motor is firing incorrectly then a replacement cap may be what your car needs. An automobile's ignition distributor is the component that moves the high voltage from the coil to all the cylinders in the designated order. A car's engine operation counts a great deal on the ignition distributor which sends out high-voltage electrical energy to the spark plugs from your ignition coil. The ignition distributor is a component in the ignition system, which distributes electricity to the pistons in the automotive motor.

Distributor

Ignition starts when you turn on your car, but it needs to keep going afterwards. You're constantly burning fuel and creating small blasts to move your pistons. The fuel for these explosions is carefully measured, and their timing is precisely orchestrated to give you maximum fuel economy and horsepower. Your ignition system is responsible for starting each explosive stroke of your pistons. Your distributor gets the fire started by sending out sparks to each plug at the right time.

The distributor is located near the camshaft, covered by a distributor cap. Underneath this protective housing, there are spinning parts that send out impulses of electricity. These pulses are transmitted via the spark plugs into the ignition chambers, causing the fuel-air mixture in your cylinders to explode. This pushes the pistons up and down and provides power to your engine.

We love auto parts at PartsGeek.com, and it shows in our great selection of manufacturers. Find ignition distributors made by industry leaders like A1 Cardone, AC Delco, Accel, Beck Arnley, Bosch, Delphi, JP Group, Dansk, Spectra Premium, WAI Global, Mitsubishi Electric, MSD, Taylor, Volkswagen and Standard Motor Products. We want to make sure you're happy with whatever you order, so we protect your purchases with our 30-day return policy.

What is a distributor?

Your distributor is part of your ignition system. It takes high voltage and divides it up, sending out impulses to your spark plugs and firing up your engine. Its basic function is to deliver power at the right time so ignition is as efficient as possible. Contemporary cars use computing power to determine the right timing, older cars use a series of mechanical devices combined with precise manual tuning.

The distributor draws electricity from your ignition coil. It splits that high voltage up by rotating a conductive element to periodically close a circuit. When this connection happens, an electrical impulse is sent through the closed circuit to end up in your internal combustion engine. Your vehicle's camshaft provides the power to turn the apparatus.

Look for your distributor attached to the camshaft, either directly or through a gear. If you don't have access to your maintenance and service manual, locate the part by following the wires leading to the spark plugs or the ignition coil.

How much is a replacement distributor?

Ignition distributors vary in price for the following reasons:

  • Vehicle's performance level
  • Number of cylinders
  • Design of the part
  • Whether or not the cap is included

Most of these parts cost between $100-600.

What happens when your distributor fails?

A broken distributor keeps your engine from firing because it doesn't send electricity to start ignition. Here are some symptoms of slightly less faulty ignition distributors:

  • Squealing noises coming from under the hood
  • Stalling or shaking when stopped while idling
  • Backfires
  • Uncontrollable RPM changes
  • False or difficult starts

If you have distributor problems, fix them fast. It's only a matter of time before you lose power completely.
