The Blower Motor Resistor is an important part of every car. It pertains to the car's heating and cooling system. Without this important part, your car may blow out even when you have the lowest and middle settings. If you have a car that easily blows air on high then you should consider fixing the problem immediately. Despite what people think, fixing the Blower Motor Resistor is pretty easy.

The Blower Motor Resistor is luckily not very expensive, therefore, replacing a broken one with a new one will not cost you an arm and a leg. Every car blows air through the blower, however, the thing controlling the process is the Blower Motor Resistor. It will control the amount of air that is allowed through the vents. If your car is still working on the highest setting then your blower is in good condition. And on the contrary, if you do not see any air at all, even at the highest setting then your blower has stopped working.

There are two types of blower motor resistor. Older model cars use coils of wire while the latest car designs use transistors to control everything.

The blower resistor is located under the dash board on the passenger side of every car. If You can lay down in the floor board and find the dash then you will see the resistor. If your car uses coils of wire then you will see different size coil of wire for each fan speed and a circuit board to control the coil of wire. If your car uses a transistor you will see it as well.

If you need to fix the Blower Motor Resistor then you can do this alone with the help of just a voltmeter and a screwdriver. However, you will need to consult how-to sources before attempting this job. If you are not experienced or unsure, the best way to go is to hire a technician to do it for you.
