For a number of years, the air conditioning unit and heater in a vehicle have been controlled by a single control unit located in the center console. This is largely because whether you are using the cooling or heating function of the car, you will be using the same vents and fans, so it makes sense to consolidate the controls. The AC heater control most commonly consists of two knobs or dials.
One will control the mixture of hot and cold air, thereby regulating the temperature, and the other will control the intensity of the blower fan. When using the heating function, mixing outside air with the heat from the heater core can lower the temperature of air coming into the cabin. A third control unit--either a dial or a slider--changes the vents from which the air is blown.
This usually includes an option to blow air onto the windshield and defrost. Sometimes you have to get an auto part for safe driving or utilitarian needs, or possibly it's something that's fun; in both cases look for the highest level of quality you can afford. Some find that the most frustrating thing about restoring that vehicle is the search for a reliable source for outstanding parts. People who love cars know top quality parts are needed for the best possible performance and we here at PartsGeek are committed to helping you find the best aftermarket and OEM parts for your vehicle.
