The Mazda Protégé has a larger interior when compared to others in the compact-sedan division complete with a 6-disc CD changer and leather seats. It has a Sport AT transmission with the option to switch to manual shifting. Good fuel efficiency and reliability have made this a vehicle worth keeping and upgrading. A car that handles as well as the Mazda Protégé, particularly a family size sedan, deserves only the best in high-quality auto parts to keep it running like new. Any vehicle worth upgrading needs only high-quality auto parts when swapping out the older parts. Premium high-quality-auto parts are the only parts when caring for any vehicle, especially if you are looking to turbo charge your Mazda Protégé, which has become quite popular with these superb-handling, easy to work on vehicles.

Mazda Protege

The Mazda Protege was a subcompact car produced by Mazda in Japan between 1976 and 2003. In the United States it was first known as the GLC, then the 323, and from 1990 on as the Protege. The 323/Protege was more expensive than its competitors such as the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, partly due to its being manufactured in Japan. A perennial favorite of US car magazines, the model is well regarded for its spirited handling. It was also the first small Japanese car to cross over to the EPA "compact" class in 1990 when the 4-door started going by the name Protege. The first Mazda 323 was a rear wheel drive model. and was a version of the fourth-generation Japan-market Mazda Familia. The 1980 323 featured a 1.5 L engine, and front wheel drive. It was available as a hatchback and sedan. The 323 was Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 1980.

The 1985 Protege was available as a hatchback, sedan and wagon. This generation was sold through the 1989 model year in the United States. The station wagon continued in many markets and was not cancelled until 1995. For the 2001 model year in North America, Mazda introduced the limited-edition Protege MP3 featuring a new sport-tuned suspension. 2002 saw the introduction of a station wagon version called Protege 5. All Proteges got the 2.0 L engine this year. In 2003, Mazdaspeed introduced the Mazdaspeed Protege, an update to the Protege MP3 Mazda then followed with a mid year change christened the 2003.5. This model included a different aero-kit, darker painted wheels, and custom interior pieces. There were only 4,750 Mazdaspeed Protege models produced in this, the last year for production of the Protege.

The Mazda Protege has a larger interior than others in the compact-sedan division. Its fuel efficiency and reliability makes it well worth keeping and upgrading. This is a quiet machine, free of rattles, buzzes, quivers, and thrums. Yards of sound-damping material have been installed on the floorpan, underhood, and behind the fire wall, and a damper has been added to the front engine mount that inhibits torque motions related to throttle response. The engine-speed-sensitive variable-assist power rack system has stiffer shaft mounts, a stiffer steering torsion bar, and a new support yoke, and Mazda claims that system friction has also been reduced The 2003 Protege is a great car, extremely reliable and fun to drive. It is not without problems, although most of them are minor. The sway bar bushings tend to wear out at around 90,000 miles and the tubing to the mass air flow sensor is subject to cracking in its old age, but can easily be fixed up with duct tape. The biggest problem is build up of rust in the rear fender wells. A family size sedan that handles as well as the Mazda Protege, deserves the best in high-quality auto parts to keep it running like new. When you need replacement parts, come to PartsGeek, where you will find the best in Mazda Protege oem and aftermarket parts.

Easy to install. Only drawback, wish it came in white. NOTE: requires original mounting hardware (plastic press screws) so don't throw these out with the old part.
