Mercedes ML320 Replacement Timing Belt Tensioner Information
Did you know you should replace the Timing Belt Tensioner for your Mercedes ML320 each time you replace the timing belt? The timing belt snakes through the engine, keeping the valves opening and closing precisely when they should. If the cycle is off, the engine will stall, backfire or misfire. It's critical that the Timing Belt Tensioner hold the belt at the correct tension: if the belt is too loose it will lose contact with the path guides; too tight and it will cause the bearings to wear out faster. Incorrect belt tension shortens the life of the belt, so it's important that the Timing Belt Tensioner be in the same condition as the belt. If the Tensioner fails, the car stops but bad alignment in the long-term causes wear to the fine German-engineered gears and bearings. To avoid this, replace the Tensioner when you replace the belt.
