Ford F150 Replacement Timing Belt Tensioner Information
The tIming belt tensioner, sometimes referred to as the "tensioner bolt" may need to be replaced periodically in the Ford F150 pickup truck due to excessive wear owing to off-road use or rough driving conditions, or damage due to problems with other parts of the timing belt assembly. Check the pulley, bearings, and timing belt for wear and degradation to ensure that other parts of the timing belt complex are not damaged. Often, rough bearings are responsible for problems in this department. When replacing the bolt, be sure to create proper torque for your particular model of Ford F150. Typical wisdom unless directly specified in the manual goes that 'tighter is better'. Consult manuals and a professional mechanic if you are unsure.
