BMW 745Li Replacement Tie Rod Information
Tie rods are the pieces of equipment in your BMW 745Li that connect your steering assemblage to your wheels. In the rack and pinion steering assemblage that most cars use, they're located on the ends of the steering rack. When you turn your steering wheel, gears at the end of the steering shaft engage the steering rack, thereby causing the tie rods to move. Occasionally, tie rods will break if a car goes over an extremely rough patch of road. More often, however, the linkage to the steering rack will wear out. When this happens, your steering wheel will vibrate when you try to steer your car. Often these vibrations become so severe that your entire car will oscillate.
