Volvo 850 Replacement Thermostat Housing Information
Your Volvo 850's thermostat is an essential part of your vehicle's cooling system. It lets you know when your vehicle is in danger of overheating. When your vehicle is in danger of overheating, additional amounts of coolant will flow into your engine. The thermostat housing is the plastic fitting that protects your thermostat from damage. When the thermostat housing cracks, your thermostat may no longer be able to function properly. You can buy a replacement thermostat housing for your Volvo 850 at PartsGeek.com.
When your thermostat isn't functioning properly, your engine may either overheat or underheat. Underheating occurs when the thermostat valve remains stuck in open, and radiator coolant flows into the engine block before the engine reaches its optimal functioning temperatures. If the thermostat valve can no longer open, refrigerant coolant never flows into the engine block. Your engine may overheat and seize.
