Eagle Talon Replacement Struts Information
The Eagle Talon, manufactured from 1990 through 1998, is a 3-door hatchback, front-wheel drive sports coupe sold by Chrysler Corp in a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corp. A nearly identical version of the Eagle was manufactured and sold as the Mitsubishi Eclipse with a third version called the Laser sold by Plymouth. All three models incorporated use of the same platform, the same engine, transmission and drive train. The only real differences were in options offered and cosmetics. The Talons were all two-toned in color, with the top always painted black. As with nearly all front-wheel drive cars in production, the front-end suspension uses MacPherson struts, otherwise known simply as 'struts'. These assemblies differ from typical shock absorber type suspensions in a variety of ways, some of which are advantageous and others that may seem as disadvantageous. A strut has a built in shock absorber, which is the most commonly serviced part of the assembly. If there is a problem with the Eagle Talon struts, the best solution may be to just replace them. A strut provides a simple way of integrating several suspension and steering parts into one compact assembly. This includes the shock absorber, the coil spring, the spring seats, the strut bearing and the steering knuckle.
