Honda Odyssey Replacement Strut Mount Information
The suspension struts in your Honda Odyssey are connected to the vehicle via a strut mount. These struts are used to hold the car up over the wheel body and absorb force as you travel over the road, and the mounts let them rotate in place along with the wheels as you drive. Strut mounts are bolted to the underbody of the car and to the strut itself, with an elastic insulator between the two bolted sections. The mount is thus able to help cushion the vehicle as its spring or shock absorber compresses and expands. As strut mounts get older, however, the rubbery insulating material may lose elasticity or density. This makes them stiffer, and allows more noise and vibration to make its way to you in the vehicle, reducing the comfort of your ride. You ought to replace your strut mounts any time you replace the accompanying struts.
