Jaguar X Type Replacement Steering Rack Information
A steering rack is a mechanical device that provides for the change from rotational energy in the Jaguar X Type steering wheel to lateral motion in the vehicle's front wheels. Also known as rack and pinion, it is becoming the most popular type of steering mechanism on modern vehicles and for good reason. It is reliable and offers a lot of mechanical advantage. This means that even without power steering, it provides a great deal of gear reduction and makes it a lot easier to turn the wheel. Of course on the Jaguar the power steering keeps the driver in full control, but it's nice to know that there are additional backup systems.
