Lexus SC300 Replacement Starter Information
When your Lexus SC300's starter motor isn't working, you'll hear a clicking noise when you turn your key in the engine, but your engine won't start. Your starter is the piece of equipment charged with turning your crankshaft before the processes of internal combustion kick in to power your car. It interfaces with the flywheel located toward the rear of your engine. The starter receives its energy from your car's battery. The starter consists of an armature and a conducting surface. When the battery sends current to the starter motor, it activates a specialized shaft called a bendix that interfaces with the flywheel. Starter motors only became a standard part of automotive systems in 1940. Before that time, many drivers had to crank the crankshaft initially by hand.
