Sometimes, all you require is a no-nonsense, well-engineered, dependable form of transportation, the Hyundai meets the challenge. Great horsepower and high performance are derived from great parts and accessories. It doesn't matter if you race or just take joy in driving a high-performance vehicle, top quality aftermarket and OEM parts are critical. Hyundai Elantra Shocks work as large coil springs which look a lot like hydraulic pistons, moving fluid from chamber to chamber which softens swaying as you drive. Shock absorbers come in two general varieties: spring-based shock absorbers which use leaf springs, and torsion-based shocks which rely on a torsion bar. Found between your suspension and the body of the vehicle, Shocks absorb the up-and-down motion of the suspension. Shocks contain a metal coil enclosed in a tube that supports a car or truck's suspension. Properly-functioning Shocks provide you with augmented stability and enhance the maneuverability of your car or truck. Your car or truck is really only as good as its parts, and so the team of specialists here at PartsGeek is eager to help you find the right parts for any purpose.

They are available for the following Hyundai Elantra years: 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 12, 11, 10, 09, 08, 07. This part is also sometimes called Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber. We stock shocks parts for most Hyundai models including Santa Fe, Sonata, Accent, Azera, Entourage, Veracruz, Tucson, Veloster, Genesis Coupe, Elantra GT, XG350, Excel, XG300, Scoupe and Pony.

Research on Shocks for Hyundai Elantra

Automotive shocks were in development in the early 1900s. Perfecting the dampening effect in a vehicle in which the load varies greatly was a challenge at first. With standardized shocks, you can find replacements whenever you need them. If you're lucky, the shocks will keep your car's suspension in top shape for a while. Any changes in performance should be followed by an inspection at an auto shop, and replacements to the worn parts whenever necessary.

What Are the Shocks on a Car?

The effects of a rough road are too much for most drivers to handle. In fact, you might not know what this feels like until the shocks go bad. The suspension is kept stable by shock absorbers, which have pistons that move within cylinders, the motion of which is dampened by gas or oil. These are surrounded by springs that oscillate with every motion of your car and support the suspension. The 2011 Hyundai Elantra struts, for example, include both the shock absorbers and springs, and make up a significant structural part of the system.

How Much Is a Shock Absorber?

That all depends on who you ask. There are many retailers selling such parts, and you might find Hyundai Elantra struts for under $100 apiece. Full sets of four can cost you as much as $350 or more. Installation will obviously cost you more, since labor is included, and often a wheel alignment. The 2001 Hyundai Elantra front struts are $391 to $525 to replace, which is the same for other model year vehicles. Rear struts of this car are more than the front 2009 Hyundai Elantra struts and others, running anywhere from $489 to $659 to replace.

When to Replace the Shocks

Since your car's shocks dampen motion, you will start to feel every bump in the road if they fail. The signs are often subtle at first, but the rockiness, vibration, and noise will worsen over time, until it can be unbearable to drive. There's no expiration date for 2002 Hyundai Elantra struts. Parts simply wear over time and with the stresses of everyday driving; if you're lucky, shocks may last 70,000 to 80,000 miles, but that's not a guarantee. Your car might become hard to handle and steer, braking might become more difficult, and the car can sag in the rear or front. Knocking sounds can mean bad shocks, and clicking or popping when turning the steering wheel might mean the bearing is failing.

Ways to Avoid Paying Full Price for Shocks

If you've looked around and have seen exorbitant prices for 2003 Hyundai Elantra shocks and struts, don't fret. There are many opportunities to save, especially from online auto parts suppliers. PartsGeek.com is one example. We sell parts for less because we run our business online, avoiding a great deal of overhead. This is passed on as savings to each customer. You can end up spending much less per part, and reducing the final cost of repairs, which means you won't put off restoring your vehicle's performance and safety rating.

This was my first order from PartsGeek and everything was top notch from the price, order processing, shipping and the advertised product. I installed the shocks the day I received them and very pleased with the improved ride quality. I would definately buy from these guys again.

Review for the KYB rear shocks for 2011 & up Hyundai Elantra. The factory rear shocks are lacking for this car giving it a loose feeling in the rear. In the sedan especially it is very non-responsive and in some scenarios can bottom-out easily. The KYB's very efficiently changes the overall handling characteristics of this model. A best buy IMHO, and PartsGeek has great pricing - probably the best performance modification you can do for this Elantra seriess

Reviewer: new shocks for my 2014 elantra sedan

These shocks made a huge improvement in the skipping feeling on my elantra. I would recommend them.

2011 Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber

Reviewer: Exactly what I needed

Replaced worn out/blown rear shocks on 2012 Elantra. Got rid of the dreaded "bunny hop" I was experiencing. Easy to install, great product. Rear wheels must be removed for access to upper bolt so just rotate your tires while at it.
