Saab 93 Replacement Shock Mount Information
The suspension of the 2003-2008 Saab 93 consists of two front struts and two rear shocks, each of which are attached to the vehicle body through the use of a mount. These mounts are made up of a thick, durable slab of rubberized material encased in metal. They serve not only as a strong anchor point for the suspension parts to attach to the vehicle body, but also as a cushion to smooth out bumps in the road and to quiet road noise and reduce vibration. Eventually, just as suspension struts and shock absorbers lose their effectiveness over time and through use, strut and shock mounts also lose their ability to effectively cushion and dampen. Common experience dictates that when it's time to replace either shock absorbers in the rear or struts in the front, the corresponding mounts should also be replaced.
