Mazda MX6 Replacement Oxygen Sensor Information
There are two oxygen sensors installed in the Mazda MX6. The first is located in the air intake and it is designed to detect the level and density of oxygen going into the engine. This helps the vehicle computer calculate what the fuel-air mixture should be.
The second oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust and detects how much oxygen is escaping without being burned. These two sensors work in conjunction to calculate the proper fuel mixture and are constantly updating the vehicle computer with new data. Because the oxygen sensor is exposed to high temperature and moisture, it is not uncommon for it to fail. Driving a Mazda is a smart choice, now maintaining it in top condition is even smarter!
