Volvo S70 Replacement Oil Pump Information
The oil pump in your car circulates engine oil under pressure throughout all parts of the engine. This device plays a vital role in the proper functioning of your vehicle. It can be found inside the oil pan, under the engine bottom. There are several types of oil pumps on the market, including gear pumps and trochaic pumps. Their main role is to provide oil to the moving parts of your engine. When the oil pump fails, you will experience loss oil pressure, increased engine heat, stalling, loss of power, and catastrophic engine failure. A reduction in oil flow can cause damage to the hydraulic lifters, as well as engine noise and oil contamination. A bad oil pump may cause the valve train to become noisy and damage the engine. If you notice any of these symptoms, get the oil pump replaced as soon as possible.
