Dodge Stratus Replacement Oil Pump Information
An oil pump is a part of the Dodge Stratus that circulates oil within the internal combustion engine. Note that it is not the same as the fuel pump, which pumps fuel from the tank to the engine. Oil pumps circulate oil to the engine's various sliding pistons, rotating bearings and the camshaft. The oil pump pumps oil through engine passages to distribute it to the various components. This reduces friction between the various engine parts, and also cools the pistons, shafts and bearings. Currently there are fixed-displacement oil pumps, included with most engines, and variable replacement alternatives. The component is fairly essential for engine durability.
Dodge Stratus pumps are OE replacement ones that meet or exceed OE specifications. They can be added to Dodge Stratus sub model years from 1995 up to 2006. Suitable sub models include the Dodge Stratus SXT, SE, R/T, ES and Base.
