The Nissan 720 is a strong truck that is capable of hauling equipment and operating under any conditions the road has to offer. Powerful engines like the ones used in the 720 generate a significant amount of noise. Most cities and states have laws about how loud a vehicle is allowed to be and the muffler helps vehicles stay quiet. The muffler is a part of the exhaust system that is responsible for eliminating noise.
Mufflers are located in the back of the 720 attached to the tailpipe. The part is made of metal and contains an inlet, outlet, and resonator chamber. Noise and exhaust enter the resonator chamber and sound bounces off of the perforations on the tubes. This creates destructive interference and eliminates noise caused by the engine and exhaust system. Exhaust is then expelled through the outlet and into the tailpipes.
