BMW 318is Replacement Ignition Switch Information
Your BMW 318i's ignition switch provides the connection between your vehicle's battery and the starter motor. Ignition switches have three possible states: start, on and off. When you turn your key in the ignition switch to "start," you complete a circuit that sends electricity to the starter, causing the crankshaft to begin rotating. When you turn the ignition switch to "on," you don't engage the starter, but you can operate headlights, taillights, your radio and other accessories that rely upon electrical power. When you turn your ignition switch to "off," neither your starter nor your electrical accessories will receive power. You can buy a replacement ignition switch for your BMW 318i at PartsGeek.com.
