An ignition lock housing is something you use every time you start your BMW 540i, but may never have thought about it. The key to the vehicle is inserted into a slot and turned. That assembly is encased in something called the ignition lock assembly. It is a cylinder inside of the steering column that contains everything the key turns in order to start the vehicle.
